PLEASE PLEASE not another undermining process of the Nursery Staff to get yet even more CHEAP LABOUR. The NNEB was a highly respected professional qualification for Nursery staff to obtain and work towards. Most of the failings that Ofsted now highlights as issues of concern in Early Years Education were once within the NNEB curriculum. Once the government started to look for cheap labour along came the NVQ a Tick Sheet process that never delivered the same quality or standards that the NNEB expected and demanded of their students. Let’s stop this playing about with inventing qualifications that are part of the money market approach for some organisations to build their income on and fit the Government needs for more yet cheaper staffing to reach their Nursery Targets. Let’s have a respected equivalent qualification for Nursery Staff to that of the Teachers, as Teachers will not stand for their qualification to be undermined or be a NVQ. I wonder why, is it because the Teaching profession want to recruit the best candidates and thus improve the quality of delivery within the schools and be fit for purpose as do the Nursery Profession dealing with a vital stage in young peoples lives? A poorly trained/qualified nursery staffing policy will meat the government criteria of low paid staffing targets and will only produce a poor quality Nursery Provision exactly the opposite to the governments election slogan EDUCATION EDUCATION EDUCATION!
