RE: Poll on Every Child Matters

In Every Child Matters the focus is supposed to be on the child as an individual and this is not being translated to school admissions. Each child should be judged on their readiness to begin formal schooling, on a raft of criteria that could ensure a successful school life and not on a fixed, rigidly enforced date of birth criteria which says nothing more about the child than that they arrived in the world on that day.
