WOW! I had no idea that you could apply for exemption! What a process though! Yet more bureaucracy, time consuming and costly!!

Gracie Manning - I thought the Department had privately admitted that the EYFS was going to be unworkable and didn't have enough buy-in, and that from 2009 the criteria for inspection/hoops to jump through will be changing anyway?

Why would anybody want to be exempt from using the EYFS. This has been the easiest and best approach for children to work from. The children choose what they want to play with, the adults observe, note, and extend. What could be more simple? As long as the children are learning as they play, have all their needs/requirements met, less paper work once this are out into practice. A less qualified practitioner, like myself are able to work with children as equal as practitioners at the top levels. Plus have the understanding on what is needed, when it is needed, and why it is needed. A top job is done with laughter and smiles throughout the day.
