More than just 1 organisation should be invited to present their case at this 'summit'. There are many fathers/mothers/equal parenting groups out there, who are all pretty much after the same thing. The injustices meted out by the family courts are so blindingly obvious to all those who have suffered at their hands. Labour have ignored these issues for over a decade and have wrecked thousands and thousands of families lives. What exactly is meant by "see good practice at first hand"? It's simple - anything and everything should be done to ensure that children maintain a healthy loving relationship with both of their parent, post separation, unless there is a PROVEN risk to them. Judges who still think that "Any contact is meaningful contact", and then go on to say that they are "going to allow" the father to "write to your children once a month and send them small gifts at appropriate times", are completely out of touch with reality and the best interests of the children concerned. These sort of nonsensical judgements have got to be stopped. What happens to the children after parents separate, should be sorted out immediately the separation occurs, by mediation if necessary and the out of touch judges and CAFCASS should be the last people making decisions like this. What is needed is a mediation service that separated parents should attend with a view to making the parents see that the interests of their children are best served by maintaining a healthy loving relationship with both. Every other weekend contact does NOT allow for that to happen. Long running contact disputes only serve one purpose, to line the pockets of the solicitors involved, which in turn directly harms the children financially. Is it any wonder that many family law solicitors go out of their way to promote as much conflict as possible?
